Early Years

Outstanding Early Years Programme - Ofsted

We are delighted to accept children from aged two to five years in our purpose-built Early Years facility.

We provide an outstanding early years education for our young learners within a purpose built, well-resourced and spacious indoor and outdoor pre-school environment.

Our highly qualified Early Years Educators actively encourage the children’s enjoyment of learning, their creativity and curiosity, whilst ensuring the highest safeguarding and welfare standards.

Girl painting at an easalWe follow the principles and guidance of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), emphasising developing the children’s unique and individual potential as inquisitive, active learners and provide a broad, stimulating and balanced curriculum. Topics are largely generated by the children’s interests through observations of their play while the adults in the class extend the children’s learning through sustained-shared thinking. Our child-centered approach to learning recognises that children develop at different rates and in different ways.

Throughout the Early Years we track the children's learning against the development statements and learning goals set by the EYFS on their Individual Tracker. This is shared with parents and carers regularly and informs our planning, enabling us to create individual next steps for each child. We place great importance on the whole child and value parents/carers as the primary educator, seeking to work very closely with families to empower all individuals to fulfil their potential; socially, emotionally and academically.

Our small setting provides a happy, nurturing and secure environment where children can grow in confidence and develop their learning through play experiences that are meaningful to them. All children have regular opportunities to participate in woodland adventures in our dedicated, on site, forest space and participate in growing projects in our edible garden.

The children attending the Early Years Provision (EYP- rising 3s and rising 4s) may choose between three, four or five full day sessions from 08:15-15:30. They are offered Forest School sessions and Physical Education with a trained specialist and make the most of the real world learning opportunities offered by the on site woodland and Permaculture, edible garden.

Reception

Specialist teachers offer Forest School sessions, Physical Education, Music and Movement and Music to the Reception class (rising 5s). Reception students also enjoy an unprecedented three forty five minute language lessons each week.
